What is a fractional C-suite role?
I started on my Fractional CMO journey in 2023 and like anyone starting anything, there have been ups and downs…
New clients…
Bookkeeping…
Life…
Marketing yourself…
The blank stare at your monitor…
Life…
Cold calls…
Proposals…
Ghosting…
Life…
But one thing I do consistently come back to during any of my conversations is why the fractional workspace is of value and important in today’s business culture and climate.
From hybrid work environments, to the speed and volume of technology that we all operate around, it is hard to keep up.
Heck, it is hard to keep up with my kid's soccer schedule forget the latest privacy updates from Google and Yahoo.
So flexibility is key. From both sides of the table. But first you need to understand why fractional c-suites are right for you.
Fractional CMOs inject expertise into startups or any business at key growth phases, offering leadership, flexibility and strategic insights without the full-time cost.
Sadia’s article below hits on some very salient points and quotes around fractional roles. One area from Sadia’s article to expand on is where in your business’s cycle are you, and is that the right time for a fractional leader.
So what are those key growth phases of a business when fractional leaders are most relevant?
Here are my top 3 and why:
Start up: Well funded start-ups seeking a mentor or advisor to help build a framework from scratch - ROI’s on a fractional should be high if there is alignment on needs and objectives
Stalled: A company who has stalled and no longer meeting or exceeding their objectives or revenue goals - The right new perspective should result in the need for greater accountability with all resources
Growth: The CEO should not be managing the team - Bridge the gap and focus on what you do best.
Is Fractional leadership always the perfect fit? Definitely not, but when needs, objectives and the right size company align - magic does happen.
